![]() Add a sound wave animation to your next audio episode or teaser post and start showing everyone your content. That physical direction of an oscillating field relative to the propagation direction is also referred to as the wave's polarization, which can be an important attribute.Make your sound wave the way you want by choosing between a classic waveform style or a stacked bars style, and customizing its color, animation, and speed. Mechanical waves include both transverse and longitudinal waves on the other hand electromagnetic plane waves are strictly transverse while sound waves in fluids (such as air) can only be longitudinal. A plane wave is classified as a transverse wave if the field disturbance at each point is described by a vector perpendicular to the direction of propagation (also the direction of energy transfer) or longitudinal wave if those vectors are aligned with the propagation direction. In linear media, complicated waves can generally be decomposed as the sum of many sinusoidal plane waves having different directions of propagation and/or different frequencies. Mathematically, the simplest wave is a sinusoidal plane wave in which at any point the field experiences simple harmonic motion at one frequency. However, waves with infinite domain, that extend over the whole space, are commonly studied in mathematics, and are very valuable tools for understanding physical waves in finite domains.Ī plane wave is an important mathematical idealization where the disturbance is identical along any (infinite) plane normal to a specific direction of travel. For example, the seismic waves generated by earthquakes are significant only in the interior and surface of the planet, so they can be ignored outside it. Ī physical wave field is almost always confined to some finite region of space, called its domain. On the other hand, some waves have envelopes which do not move at all such as standing waves (which are fundamental to music) and hydraulic jumps.Įxample of biological waves expanding over the brain cortex, an example of spreading depolarizations. In mathematics and electronics waves are studied as signals. Mechanical and electromagnetic waves transfer energy, momentum, and information, but they do not transfer particles in the medium. Other types of waves include gravitational waves, which are disturbances in spacetime that propagate according to general relativity heat diffusion waves plasma waves that combine mechanical deformations and electromagnetic fields reaction–diffusion waves, such as in the Belousov–Zhabotinsky reaction and many more. Electromagnetic, as determined by their frequencies (or wavelengths), have more specific designations including radio waves, infrared radiation, terahertz waves, visible light, ultraviolet radiation, X-rays and gamma rays. Electromagnetic waves can travel through a vacuum and through some dielectric media (at wavelengths where they are considered transparent). In an electromagnetic wave (such as light), coupling between the electric and magnetic fields sustains propagation of waves involving these fields according to Maxwell's equations. Other examples of mechanical waves are seismic waves, gravity waves, surface waves and string vibrations. For example, sound waves are variations of the local pressure and particle motion that propagate through the medium. A mechanical wave is a local deformation (strain) in some physical medium that propagates from particle to particle by creating local stresses that cause strain in neighboring particles too. In a mechanical wave, stress and strain fields oscillate about a mechanical equilibrium. There are two types of waves that are most commonly studied in classical physics: mechanical waves and electromagnetic waves. Waves are often described by a wave equation (standing wave field of two opposite waves) or a one-way wave equation for single wave propagation in a defined direction. In a standing wave, the amplitude of vibration has nulls at some positions where the wave amplitude appears smaller or even zero. When the entire waveform moves in one direction, it is said to be a traveling wave by contrast, a pair of superimposed periodic waves traveling in opposite directions makes a standing wave. Periodic waves oscillate repeatedly about an equilibrium (resting) value at some frequency. In physics, mathematics, engineering, and related fields, a wave is a propagating dynamic disturbance (change from equilibrium) of one or more quantities. The alkaline metals react with water at room temperature to produce hydroxides that are almost insoluble in water, along with hydrogen ions to form a basic solution. īeryllium (Be) does not react with water due to its small atomic size and relatively high ionization energy. ![]() Since all the alkaline metals have only two valence electrons, it takes little energy to make them give up those electrons to form cations (2+), resulting in high reactivity. The lower the ionization energy, the more reactive an element is. The energy required to make an atom give up the electrons in its outermost shell (valence electrons) is the ionization energy for the element. Why are the Alkaline Earth Metals so Reactive They all react with halogens and form halide compounds. The Group 2 elements usually form electrovalent or ionic bonds in reactions with other elements (again, Be is an exception as it forms covalent bonds). When in contact with water, they all react strongly to form alkaline hydroxides (Beryllium is an exception as it does not react with water). ![]()

He's got an amazing way of being very direct in his scripting, and I suggest you find his blog and try out his other demos from there as well because they're amazing. The instruction for Khas' scripts are always in the header of the script inside the demo. There are loads of script calls, conditions, and things you're going to want to set up. While you have the demon open in the rpg maker, go to the script list, scroll down till you find the script for the light effects, and then copy it to the same location in the script list of your project. Then open a second rpg maker window, and open your project in that. Then go into the demo's files, copy the folder marked lights and put that copy INTO your project's graphic's folder. This is the first page of event 14 (the lantern). It ensures that there is no snow (incase the player just entered from outside), and sets the lantern to belong to event 14 (I originally had event 14 as just a normal light, but when I got this glitch I made 14 a lantern just to see if the latern code worked at all) This is the event used to set up the area. ![]() Time for pictures! Excellent cosmetics, well- figured woodgrain, with elaborate legs and carved pieces, and a pleasant piano to play. ![]() An above average piano in it's day with a Wessel, Nickel, & Gross action which is considered premium quality. Peck & Co., one of the distinguished American piano industries, with a world wide reputation for the utmost reliability. ![]() LA Scoring Strings and Spitfire Chamber Strings are used a lot for soundtrack stuff too and I know lots of people swear by the Cinematic Studio Series libraries but I've never used them myself. The legato scripting is great and it's a bargain at its price. You can't go wrong with Hollywood Strings, I think it's fantastic and holds up despite its age. I like NI's Alicia's Keys, The Grandeur and The Gentleman and Cinesample's Piano in Blue too but they're all for different contexts. That said, in soundtrack land, NI's Noire / Una Corda and Spitfire Labs Felt Piano are used to levels where they're now a cliche. ![]() ![]() Keyscape is probably the most advanced piano VST out there at the moment, so I'm sure it's possible to get that working to your satisfaction with some tweaking. I say this just because there isn't a magic bullet orchestral library, you really do have to learn to play them like any other instrument. I mean you make any VST sound unrealistic and some people are very talented at making very basic libraries sound stunning (ah, the golden days when demo-writers got paid - and some of them earned every penny by working alchemy!) If you do get Komplete, then you'll have the Damage library and some other big cinematic percussion libraries, and if you subscribe to Composer Cloud, you'll have their Hollywood Percussion and some other stuff. It's not really designed for giant booming cinematic percussion, but it will give you a good foundation to later supplement with other instruments. It's just a well-designed library covering most of the Orchestral percussion staples in a streamlined package that sounds great. For example, the EW orchestral stuff is pretty bombastic and big/cinematic, so I might add some more intimate orchestral instruments eventually.Īs for standard orchestral percussion, one often overlooked gem is Impact Soundworks Rhapsody. Then I'd gradually start supplementing it with specialized libraries that fill unique niches or that improve on the libraries I already have. That would give you an absolutely massive library of sounds covering just about everything you could possibly need. If I were just starting out I'd probably subscribe to Composer Cloud AND save up to buy Komplete during one of its deep discount sales (I think there's usually one around July 4). Some of their world instrument libraries are absolutely excellent - I paid several hundred bucks for Ra 15-20 years ago before they had their subscription service, and I think it still holds up today. Their orchestral stuff is not my favorite (but it is still very good). I haven't used their BBCSO library yet but it seems like a good starting point that packs a lot of bang for the buck.ĮastWest has their Composer Cloud subscription service which will get you instant access to tens of thousands of dollars' worth of instruments if you're OK with paying a reasonably-priced subscription. ![]() I like their Symphonic Strings, their Solo Strings, and their Studio Strings. Spitfire Audio has a lot of great string libraries: some are for Kontakt, and some use their new-ish proprietary player. I tend to think the Orchestral Tools strings are the best, but "best" is very subjective and depends a lot on context. The Modartt Pianoteq instruments are fantastic and don't require Kontakt.Īs for strings, there is a huge variety out there, at every price point. So many of the best orchestral sample libraries are made for Kontakt, so it's kind of an indispensable tool, and you may as well get it as part of the Komplete bundle because it comes with an enormous amount of content, including great pianos and some decent-but not top-tier-strings and orchestral stuff. It's expensive but there is usually a very big discount sale sometime in the summer. There are some very nice pianos that come with Native Instruments Komplete. The highest card of the led suit wins the trick unless a spade trumps the trick. You do not have to play a trump unless it is the led suit. If you cannot follow suit, play any card. Playing: The player at dealer's left leads but cannot lead a spade (trump) for the first trick. It's a good idea to write down the bids.īidding begins from the dealer's left and proceeds clockwise. If your partner takes four tricks and you only take one, you have still successfully made your contract. This means that your opponent's contract is to take seven tricks while your team's contract is to win five tricks. It does not matter who wins the tricks as long as the team makes the contract. Every player must make a bid of at least one trick there are no passes, and no suit is named to be trumps since spades are always trumps.
